Penang Hill . New Cable Car

Penang Hill also known as Bukit Bendera or Flagstaff Hill, is one of Penang Island's featured attraction. It is located 833m above sea level. Penang Hill had been closed for a period of time in order to renovate the cable car.

On the second day it was reopen, we went there to take a ride on the new cable car. Initially we planned to go earlier but due to some reason, we went at 10 in the morning and was alarmed to see the crowd there. We had to wait for about an hour before it was our turn to go up the hill.

The new operating hours are:
Weekdays : 6.30a.m. - 8.00p.m. (last train from top station)
Weekends : 6.30a.m. - 10.00p.m. (last train from top station)

Cable car's far:
Malaysia:
Adult - RM8
Children (aged 7-12) - RM4
Senior Citizen - RM4
Monthly Pass - RM24 (for residents on the hill)

Children (aged 7-12) - RM15

This is actually the ticket. Hehe

Outside of the cable car. The cable car runs every half an hour

The cable car is capable of ferrying 100 passengers at one go

By the time we went down the hill, it was already afternoon. The non-residing amount of people waiting to go up the Penang Hill for its spectacular panoramic view of George Town, the mainland, the Penang Bridge and the Straits of Malacca.

Kenny Rogers Roasters @ AEON Seberang Prai City

After the previous weeks of hustle and bustle, we decided to take a break. Since we were tired to go too far, we just went to AEON Seberang Prai City Shopping Center for a nice meal and a movie.

We went for Kenny Rogers Roasters as Bobok felt like some having some chicken and I was attracted to the aroma of the yummilicious muffins. Hehe

(behind) Bobok's banana muffin

We picked the Kenny's Quarter Meal which consists of quarter roasted chicken, 3 side dishes and 1 Kenny's homemade muffin

Pinang Peranakan Mansion @ Penang

The Peranakans, also known as the Babas and Nyonyas, was a prominent community of acculturated Chinese unique to this part of the world, especially in the Straits Settlements (Penang, Malacca and Singapore) hence its other name, the Straits Chinese. Adopting selected ways of the local Malays and later, the colonial British, the Peranakans had created a unique lifestyle and customs which had not only left behind a rich legacy of antiques but its cultural influences like cuisine and language are still evident in Penang today.

At the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, the typical home of a rich Baba of a century ago is recreated to offer a glimpse of their opulent lifestyle and of their many customs and traditions. With over 1,000 pieces of antiques and collectibles of the era on display, this Baba-Nyonya museum is also housed in one of Penang’s heritage mansion of eclectic design and architecture. Built at the end of the 19th century by one of local history’s famous personalities, the ‘Hai Kee Chan’ or Sea Remembrance Store had once served as the residence and office of Kapitan Cina Chung Keng Kwee. Though not a Baba himself, his Chinese courtyard house was much like a typical large Baba home of eclectic style, incorporating Chinese carved-wood panels and English floor tiles and Scottish ironworks. Having survived the many decades of neglect and decay, the mansion has now been restored to its former glory of a stately home.
